at this certain age where design, construction, and development is moving faster and faster to keep track with innovation and technology, not many of us architects are aware of the burden our surrounding nature has to bear.

kogaa, since the very beginning of its establishment in 2015, has put sustainability and slow development at the core of its studio. this means that whenever possible, kogaa always thinks first and foremost about reusing — be it reusing material to reusing building structure. this does not only mean behaving responsibly towards the environment but also befriending potential challenges that will become more dominant in the future: aging buildings and demolitions.

kogaa was founded by three visionary changemakers, alexandra georgescu, tomas kozelsky, and viktor odstrcilik, out of admiration towards brno, the beautiful city with a very strong architectural history. as we conversed with tomas kozelsky, one of the founders and director of kogaa, we discovered how their story began.
