tony sofian of tsds talk the future of architecture in sensibility and materiality #storyofdesign
have we all realized that globalization has curbed the way we value architectural projects? as the years go by, we often appraise a work of design only from the eyes, and it made us become dependant on it.
while in fact, that is not the correct way of valuing a particular design and architectural object. yes, the eyes are the first sense that has the privilege to make an impression, but it takes all the five senses to precisely value the overall spatial experience.
architecture is more than just an image. successful architecture is one that can create emotional ties between the project and every soul who embraced it.
given this issue, the design story team has conversed with tony sofian, a principal architect of tsds interior architects, who heavily paid attention to sensibility and materiality in architecture. as he predicted that the two intertwined term is what most likely become a concern in the future of global architecture.
so tell us tony, what is sensibility in your perspective?
“sensibility is an intangible way, a process, a mechanism, a technique, a scheme, and the key to understand the true meaning of space and architectural phenomenon.”
