why do we like futurist design so much? because there is no limitation as to what it can look like. making a timeless design, however, is a rather challenging task that because the product has to fit today and hundreds of years from now at the same time.

take a look at the pantonova chair that existed since the 1971 until today. the barely visible chair made of structured wire came as a proof to global designers that modernity did not steal away from previous trend.

over four decades ago, pantonova was series of chair collections designed by verner panton for a legendary danish restaurant, varna. the design was dedicated to show the 70s vibe, with a lavish, experimental shapes and vibrant colors.

its unique modular seating system is what makes pantonova able to maintain the iconic status throughout the decades. especially after montana’s reissuing the pantonova seating system, which brought it back to trend today. it was unveiled in april 2019 at salone del mobile furniture fair as part of milan design week 2019.
