sustainable effort at northern site of borneo, indonesia
sajau is one remote region in borneo, indonesia. the place requires much attention in terms of public facilities, as well as infrastructure and design architectures.
having proper public facilities such as schools, hospitals and other public leisure is a must since these aspects are what supports life standards in the village. school is amongst these essential facilities. it is the one place where young generations study and generate ideas and innovations to grow better life standards in the hometown where they grew up.
this became the fundamental for tsds ia when building smk sajau for yayasan kayan makmur sejahtera. the aim was to create a building using eco-friendly materials, to not affect the surrounding landscape. as a result, the building exposes vernacular-tropical design in hopes to inspire the students to learn the importance of sustainable design.
