Space waste into your living room?

it is sad to admit the fact that humans might just be largest contributor to waste on earth and the universe. it is stated that more than 500.000 pieces of debris or space junk as big as the size of marbles are tracked orbiting the earth, on top of many smaller untrackable ones. these debris may cause hazard to spacecraft, not to mention the astronauts inside.

to mitigate this problem, designer daan roosegaarde, who has been exploring the issue on his wastelab design project believes that these space junks could be upcycled into something useful.

“we need to look at space in a more effective way,” said roosegaarde. “what is space waste? how can we fix it? what is its potential?” cited upon an interview with international magazine.

previous ideas by nasa and the european space agency include wanting to turn the space waste into shooting stars by using 3d print moon habitats or assemble it to gigantic sun reflector to reduce global climate change. meanwhile roosegaarde, along with scribit, a small robot that draws erasable images on vertical surfaces with marker pens and effectively turning any wall into an automated whiteboard, wanted to raise public awareness of…
