coffire pendant made of used coffee grounds — zhekai zhang

meet coffire, a pendant light collection made of staining porcelain with used coffee grounds that resemble beautifully imperfect marble texture. inspired by ancient chinese pit-firing techniques, coffire was developed by london based chinese designer zhekai zhang.

as there are many coffee consumers worldwide, resulting enormous amount of coffee waste. zhang decided to spend many years learning how to reuse these grounds.

each coffee pendant is made different. projecting its own unique marble-like effect, and have been shortlisted for dezeen awards in 2019.
