minimal month: featuring kangaroo valley house by studio brent lee
from peter zumthor to john pawson — we’ve seen it all. the ever so minimalistic design approach has been gaining back its popularity due to the recent trend in the idea of decluttering — living simply and minimally — rid of all the unnecessary. this philosophy does not only reflect in lifestyle but is also translated into design.
i’m sure we are all familiar with “less is more”, a term popularized by mies van der rohe in the 60, given his rich upbringing with the modernist and bauhaus movements throughout his life. since then we’ve seen designers like peter zumthor and tadao ando produce notorious designs like the therme vals and church of the light respectively.
