the design story — ikea seems to be very genuine in becoming a sustainable shopping store. the swedish furniture giant has taken environmental problems to the highest level.
after committing to becoming a circular business by 2030, the company has started eliminating waste — meaning, the firm will reuse, refurbish, and recycle every waste resource, and uses only renewable materials across its entire range.
the program initially launched in june 2018, along with the so-called “people and planet positive” strategy, headed by lena pripp-kovac, ikea’s sustainability head and woman in charge of these global transformations.
during the program initiation launch, kovac mentions several concerns regarding wastes removal. where she believes that we need to eat, sleep, play, and provide proper space for families without being wasteful.
