do you remember your first memory of building something? your first memory of ‘play’? did you realize you were building and designing when you played?

this is the piece of memory that gregory melitonov and ines guzman of taller ken attempt to create across the many scales of their projects.

Gregory Melitonov of Taller Ken Speaks Social and Cultural Connection in Universal “Play”

in 2013, melitonov and guzman, who both came from two different places, cultures, and backgrounds, decided to create a taller ken, now based in new york and guatemala. they both created a studio that does not only speak of essential impacts to address socially and culturally, but also one that brings architecture and design into a whole new different language; whimsical vocabularies, vibrant color palette, playfulness, or simply, to create a building that will make put a smile on your place!

design that sparks a social and cultural connection

“we take the responsibility of making any project feel like it belongs to the place it is in by dialoguing with elements that are either socially relevant, such as responding to environmental conditions, or culturally relevant in terms of responding to local traditions that involve craft or design in some way.”
