german-based design company, peter schmidt group, introduces a classic wrapping cloth; grace of waste, which helps clean ocean waste.

inspired by a japanese traditional wrapping technique, furoshiki, the wrapping cloth they created is sustainably fabricated using recycled ocean plastic waste and algae paper: to be used in many creative ways, including gift wrap, book wrap, or other wrapping purposes.

following the serene japanese tradition, grace of waste wrap features a red and blue dot pattern in ranging sizes to illuminates the ocean’s floating plastics. at first glance, the pattern printed might look like an attractive and artsy design. but once you take a closer look, you can see that it actually illustrates the garbage patches’ location in the world’s oceans.

within the illustrated wastes, the studio hopes to encourage everyone to start considering eco-friendly attempts daily and pass the information when they reuse the wrap for other wrapping purposes.
