do you know that conventional marker pens are proving difficult to recycle? yes, markers are one of the most significant contributors to the landfill. this because their life span is considered short.

take an example when using one at school. if there are 30 classrooms, from grade one to six, whereas each classroom uses 2–3 markers ranging from the black one or colorful one. resulting in at least 2 to 3 waste every week.

it would be three marker pen waste x 30 the total of classrooms available. thus, approximately, 90 markers have been delivered to the landfill by the end of the week. this is definitely not good.

now imagine how many schools in a city, and if we sum all types of school in each country worldwide — considering they produce marker pen wastes every week.

in 2012, there was a story from a group of elementary school students that signed on a petition to stop markers piling up as wastes in the landfill. the event was titled ‘crayola: make your mark’ involving around 90.000 signers. they admit that markers are bot…
