designing and cultivating an architectural project that can embrace many aspects of life probably is embedded in every architect’s long term vision and mission. but to what extent is an architect’s contribution to space, site, nature, or even life?

lo and behold, there seem to be no boundaries in architecture and architectural practice. what is not considered an architect’s responsibility — behavior in a space? memory? ecological footprint? this question of how big the scope of architecture is really exposes the bigger question: “what is architecture?”

though it is impossible to find one definite and right answer to the question , we never get tired hearing from experts, especially those who have been in the practice for a long time and have been under many different conditions. because then they will be able to seemingly have an objective take on this matter, having been under many cultural influences. therefore, the design story team found the perfect person to converse with, alexis dornier, who sees architecture as a process rather than just a profession.

perhaps, having to spend his life in the tropical island of bali was never on dornier’s mind back when he was a child. however, helping a friend create a vacation gateway was a coincidence that led him to eventually…
